Make Brushing More Fun With Minions

Brushing our teeth has become part of our daily routine but for kids, it takes a lot of convincing power to encouraged them to spend time doing such simple activity. It’s been a tricky task for parents or even for someone like us, older brothers and sisters to encouraged kids to brush their teeth regularly without the feeling of being forced. Asking kiddos to brush their teeth is not different from asking them to take a bath or to eat veggies on their plate. They do not always greet such with enthusiasm but don’t get us wrong, we’ve all been there and it just takes effort from our parents to finally turn this chore into a daily habit!

We had the same issue with my youngest brother. Encouraging him to brush his teeth is like talking to the wind and you need to bid for good deal just to convince him. Well, not until he suffered from that nightmarish toothache which haunted him for a couple of days. It was a traumatic experience for him and I still remember my poor brother crying endlessly (it was also a traumatic experience for us as he didn’t let us all sleep that night). Since then, my brother always make sure to brush his teeth everyday.

Of course, we should not let our kids think that it is nothing more but a daily chore.. it should always be a FUN activity for them and there are many ways to make brushing more fun not just for kids but for the entire family.

Join Kids While They’re Brushing Their Teeth
The kids might find it boring if they just brush their teeth alone. You can make it more fun for them if you join them while brushing. You can have some funny discussion or better yet you can even come up with simple and funny games. I remember my mom tricking me before  and making me believe that my toothbrush is Batman and he is flying towards my mouth to kill all those germs in my teeth (my gosh I can’t believe I fell into that trap … and batman… flying? I guess my mom and I should have a talk hahaha). It is indeed an effective trick to get your kids to brush their teeth but just make sure your stories are believable otherwise, you’ll find it hard to convince them haha. On top of that, it is such a great bonding moment for both of you too!

Sing With It! (and Dance With it too!)
Whenever I join my brother in brushing his teeth, there’s really one thing we do in common! We’re singing with it! Don’t get me wrong, we’re not a family of good singers but who cares, no one can hear us singing out loud in the bath room anyway. I know kids were often encouraged to sing the alphabet song while brushing but my brother and I used to take it to a new level. We’re singing the songs we want and sometimes we’re just humming the tune if our mouth is already filled with bubbles.  The strokes of our brushes follow the beat of the song we are playing. To make it more enjoying, you could also dance with the rhythm . You can play a music from your phone and start doing your signature moves with your kids and that would be ridiculous ….. yet fun! haha

Let Them Pick The Toothbrush and Toothpaste They Want!
Adult toothpaste are sometimes too strong and too minty for them that’s why there are toothbrushes that are made special for their tiny teeth! I still remember those yummy fruity flavored toothpastes that my mom used to buy. There were some funny flavors too! There were toothbrushes too that are merely inspired from our favorite cartoon characters! My brother spotted this Minion-inspired toothbrush and toothpaste last night and guess what… he used the best of his convincing power to encouraged me to buy it.

Making Brushing More Fun With Minions
The Colgate Minions Kids Oral Care Pack is catered for kids from 5-9 years of age (there’s also an Oral Care Pack for 2-5 years old) and it comes with a pair of cute Minions-inspired toothbrushes and pack of Colgate Smiles Junior Minions. The brush has soft bristles which is gentle enough for your kids teeth and gums and it has a suction base too which can be placed and stood in any smooth surface. We love the Bubble Fruit Flavor too! (Yeah, i know, it’s for kiddos but my brother just shared the other pair of that Minion toothbrush to me which just put my sister on rage as she wanted it so bad as well hahaha).

Compliment Them!
The best way to encourage the kids to brush their teeth regularly is by always giving them a compliment every time they finish brushing. It gives them some kind of rewarding achievement if they receive praises from you. This will encouraged them to do it again without realizing that they are slowly turning it into a daily habit! It is very ideal to practice our kids to brush their teeth  on a regular basis at a very young age so they wont regret having those cavities and decaying tooth in the future!

You truly made me smile while reading this blog post. This reminds me of my childhood days whenever my mother required me to brush my teeth. My mother prepared a lot of strategies before I brush my teeth. Your tips are genuinely helpful and some mother, sisters and brothers are not familiar with these ways. Oh, by the way, the minion tooth brush is actually cool, I might buy one for my brother. Thanks you so much for sharing this with us.

I think your brother loves you more. Haha. Seeing this post reminds me of getting my baby a brush since his teeth are slowly appearing already. Of course, this isn’t the right one for him but I hope Colgate has something for babies too.

How fun is this?! I remember when my kids were little, that brushing their teeth was one of those things I had to turn into a game or it never would get done. They would have loved the cute little minions!

Getting kids to brush regularly would entail a lot of different strategies. I remember when my daughter was younger, I had to buy all those different kinds of cute toothbrushes and flavored toothpastes just to encourage her to brush her teeth. I think this Minion designed toothbrush is pretty cool.

My youngest also has a Colgate Minions set. He loves it! He immediately brushed his teeth when he got it. It’s really important to maintain dental health. It can get expensive going to the dentist!
