We are blessed with freedom of choice. To choose the type of life you will lead is your God-given gift. If this were not so, you would not be capable of expressing individual talents and personality. We are free to choose an affirmative state of mind which,  according to Universal principle will manifest the “pleasures” of life or we may choose a negative state of mind, which manifest adversity.

The truth of your being is that God is seeking to express creativity through you, and he does through your mind when you let him. Our mind is an instrument of Divine Intelligence and we should be cognizant of the fact that we are able to do all things through infinite and creative wisdom of your mind.

When you take charge of your thoughts, feelings and beliefs and project them in an affirmative manner, you automatically mold the success pattern of your future. Success is a state of mind. You control the degree of your success by controlling your thoughts. We have the right to choose the way in which we will think, feel and believe. Along with this choice goes the liability of experiencing what you have chosen. It is good insurance to choose to think affirmatively.

Summer vacation is synonymous to parties, reunions, buffet and overindulgence. Take my schedule this week for instance – I will be attending parties one after the other from Monday to Saturday. And we’re just getting warmep up. It’s easy to lose track of the calorie consumption as you eat drink and be merry. According in some health books that i have read, most Americans never lose the weight they gain during the Holidays. The pounds add up year after year, making Holiday weight gain an important factor in adult obesity. In the Philippine setting, we do not have statistics related to that but nevertheless, here are ways to avoid falling into the same trap of weight gain during summer holidays.

Come Prepared. Some people want to make the most out of the free buffet by coming in hungry and filling their stomach and doggy bag to the brim. Skipping a meal often result in over eating on the nest meal sso eat a light and healthy snack before going to the party.

Water. Go for water over juice or iced tea. Some bottled iced tea contain more sugar than a bottled of softdrinks. There are also fruit drinks foud to have more added sugar than juice. Oh and water is a good appetite suppressant too! it will make you feel full resulting to meal avoidance or over eating.

Small matters. In “French Women Don’t Get Fat,” you dont have to deprive your self of your favorite treats every now and then but enjoy your indulgences one bite at a time and don’t forget to watch the amount you eat. And if it’s going to have calories, it better be chocolate..hmmm i’m thinking of Dark Chocolates. Serve yourself only small portions of food. You can use appetizer plate so you limit the amount of food you put  on your plate. Limiting of portion also applies to liquor. Keep you alcohol comsumption in check.

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided since the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey. So the farmer invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed shovels and began to shovel dirt into the well. All the other farm animals were very upset about this, because the donkey was their friend. But they discovered there was nothing they could do to help him. At first, when the donkey realized what was happening, he cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off, and take a step up on the dirt as it piled up. As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well, and trotted off!

The Moral of the story: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. But each trouble can be a stepping stone. What happens to you isn’t nearly as important as how you react to it. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not giving up! Shake it off, and take a step up!

imagesKoyuki was a shy teenager who had no idea what to do with his life and had very little interest in anything. But rock music changed all that, inspiring him to pursue a music career.! He firt got his hands on the guitar when Ryusuke lend him one. But it was Saitou, his swimming teacher, who taught him how to play it. The first time that he actually played for an audience was when Saitou asked him to be his band’s gutarist at a music festival.

He was the least experirnced member of Beck, but with a little time and practice, he became a very good gutarist. He’s also the group’s vocalist for slower tunes.

Since Koyuki started playing for BECK’ he’s become a hit with the girls.But we hear he’s only got eyes for someone he’s actaually performed with on stage: Maho, Ryusuke’s sister.

Yesterday, we celebrated our nephew’s first birthday in a private resort. We really had so much fun and in fact, a lot of foods were served. Some of them brought spaghetti, “puto” or fluffy rice cakes, ice cream and cakes. Since it is a swimming party, dishes are limited knowing that it is not our place and it will be time consuming if ever we bring a lot. For adults, beverages like hard drinks, vodkas and beers were served. We actually bring an outdoor grill but it took us forever to set the fire because the water from the pool were splashing and reaching the grill making it hard for us to set the fire. If we only have an outdoor electric grill, we will not be worrying anymore about those water splashes and it will also makes our work done faster. Anyway, we had so much fun and we are planning to celebrate my sister’s birthday on the same venue.
