Farmville Adventure Part 1

I joined my dad yesterday to visit my Uncle. We went to our province and meet our cousins. It’s been a long time since the last time we went there. My Uncle James is a farmer and he manage a lot of farm animals, poultry and livestock. I really enjoyed my trip to my Uncle’s farm especially the part where my cousins tour me in their place to meet all the animals. I found out that aside from poultry and livestock animals, they have lovely animals which can be found mostly in Zoos. They have turtles and parrots and more! And because this is a rare opportunity, i didn’t miss a chance to take some photos.

This is one of my Uncle’s poultry animals. This is a hen. They are the one who lay eggs. According to my Uncle, hens can naturally live for more than 6 years! Unlike broiler chicken who take less than six weeks after they have reached their slaughter size.

Now, here’s an imported-breed pig. Usually, pig has a pinkish color but this one has a fussy dark brown hair. It’s almost like a wild boar. I wonder how the taste differ from the usual pig. This pig is probably the cleanliest pig i have ever seen. Usually pigs’ habitat are muddy places  but look at the cage of this one, there’s no sign of mud isn’t?

Anyways, i enjoy our trip so much. It seems that i saw an actual FarmVille (a popular facebook game). I will tell the rest of the stories of this exciting farm trip including a little drama about the slaughtered sheep.

Teaching Preparations

Teaching kids will test your patients so the most important thing that you have to consider is to control your temper. Never shout , scold, hit or whip them because of their mistakes or because its hard for them to pick up your words. This practices will loose their motivation to their studies and may lose their focus or concentration in their school works. Patience is a virtue remember? Getting errors are very normal for kids but you do not have to worry ,through this error, they will learn. I’ve been working as a part-time tutor since i was in high school. After going to school, my next destination is not to our house but to those children that im teaching with. My role as a tutor is not to do their homeworks or assignments but to teach them how to do such things. I will serve as their guide. If ever they have questions, i dont gave the exact answers but instead i gave them relevant information that will help them to know the answer. They should do it by their own. This post will give prior to your role as a parent or as a guardian and what are your responsibilities. For me, even though im not a parent yet, i would like to advice to teach your kid personally instead of hiring a tutor. In this way, they will be more comfortable. In teaching your kid, you have to prepared yourself. Here are some preparations that you have to follow.
Rendering your Time
You have to render a time for your kids. Im not referring to some bonding session here but to establish a study habit for your kid. We have to teach them how to balance everything. They should have a time for playing and a time to study.
Concentration
You have to focus yourself in teaching your child. It is advisable that you’re done with all your works and some house chores before teaching your child. This will help you to concentrate with what you are doing.
Child Psychology
You have to know of how child psychology works. Kids have their own attitudes and they can be very moody in terms of studying. You have to be observant and look for some ways how to handle your child.
Study and Share
We have to admit that sometimes we forgot what we’ve learned in our academic subjects. Sometimes, it is good that you read books and refresh your knowledge so in case that they will ask you something, you know what’s the answer.
Patience

As ive said, you have to control your temper and never scold them for their mistakes. You have to teach them nicely. Kids may took for granted for being nice so you have to be fair. Dont be too nice though you do not have to be too bad. Remember, you have to set your limitation.
Observing their Progress
You have to observe how much will they improve. It is good if you will try to refresh their minds and ask questions that you’ve tackled before. Ask them repeatedly if necessarily.

Please get well soon!

My Maternal grandmother was diagnosed to have a Liver Cancer. She is suffering from severe pain. Aside from her cancer, her Glaucoma, an eye disease, caused her to become totally blind. I felt so much pity for her but I know God has a reason for everything. According to her doctor, this condition is actually curable through series of operation and theraphy. However, because of her age, the doctor told us that it will be very risky for her to undergo series of operation.

Until now, my grandma is hoping for her sooner recovery which is good for her. But then, this is a Liver Cancer and we all know that Liver is the one that transmit Blood all through out our body and according to her doctor, we must expect that her condition will become worst especially if the cancer cells are being scattered all through out her body which may affect some of her organs like her lungs, heart, brain, muscle and bone.

I wish i can help her but all i can offer are my prayers. I grew up with her and i’m really close to her that’s why i am very affected by her coindition. She’s 75 years old now but for me, it’s too early for her to leave us. I want her to see me wearing my toga and i want her to see me as a succesful man.

This is so hard for me and i can’t do nothing about it. I love her so much and i don’t know how to accept everything.  Prayers! this is my only tool and i know how powerful it is. I know everything will be fine and my grandma will soon find her recovery. Please pray for my grandma’s recovery too!

Raising Poultry

Posted By: bluedreamer on October 19, 2009 in family and friends, food, products, travel - Comments: 13 Comments »

Managing a Poultry business is not an easy task! This is what I’ve learned after we visited my Uncle’s farm in our province in Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte. I really had so much fun playing with my neice and nephews, so as my cousins.

The Province of Ilocos Norte specializes in some agricultural products like rice, corn, garlic, root crops, legumes, tobacco and other fruits and vegetables. The province is also known for their Tilapia Industries. My Uncle is currently raising poultry like chickens, ducks and other livestocks like cow, sheep and pigs.

Among all these poultry animals, raising chickens is the most interesting. Most farmers keep chickens primarily as source of food, consuming both meat and eggs.

Here, i took a picture of one of their chicken.

manok ni blue by you.

I’ve learned that not all chickens are laying eggs. Chickens that are farmed for eggs are called “hens” while chickens farmed for meats are called “broiler chickens”. Sad to say, the life span of these poor broiler chickens typically take less than six weeks after thay have reached their slaughter size. Luckily, egg laying hens will naturally live for more than 6 years!( Thanks God)

Moving forward, chicken eggs are incubated until they hatch after 21 days. My uncle is using an improvise incubator, placing  incandescent bulbs inside the cage.

Nearly all parts of the chicken can be used for food and the meat can be cooked in many different ways. I love chicken dishes like “Chicken Adobo” (a popular filipino dish), chicken curry, grilled chicken and more!

These chicken dishes are perfect to match up with some Ilocos yummy delicacies like chichacorn and Bibingka (rice cakes).

I will share it all in my next post.

My cousin celebrated his birthday in a private resort. We really had so much fun andi ate a lot. The parties are intended for kids and for a kid at heart like me hehe. There are 2 set of pools. One is for kids while the other one is for adults with a depth reaching 6 feet. Since i don’t know how to swim, i decided just to take some pictures of those kids swimming and playing.

I am thinking to celebrate my birthday on the same location but ofcourse i’ll be inviting my friends and not kids.

Do you believed in ghost?

Posted By: bluedreamer on September 29, 2009 in family and friends, ghost story - Comments: 2 Comments »

I do believed in Ghost even though i haven’t seen any. Let me share you my story and my experience when i was with my Auntie in Hospital. Her Room was located at the Fourth floor which is also the last floor in that hospital. There were only four rooms in that floor; two private and two semi-private rooms. We occupied one of the semi-private room. The other semi private room was occupied by an old cancer patient while one private room is occupied by an old priest who was said to be the owner of that hospital.

There are rumors that every night, you can hear some noices of children crying. According to some nurses, they ussually hear some noices which seems like someone is walking around the corridor. They also told us that there is an incident that one of their patient saw an old nun who passed through the wall.

Despite of these scary stories and rumors, we still have no choice but to get at least a semi-Private room for my Tita. My Tita spent four consecutive days in the hospital and i was in charge to be with her on her second night.

I have an insomnia and i can’t hardly sleep at night. Good thing that there’s a tv inside the room so i still have something to watch. Suddenly , while i was watching a late-night tv program, someone knocks the door. I thought it could be one of the nurses who will monitor my Tita but surprisingly as open the door, i saw nothing. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but i decided to go outside. There are no nurses in the fourth floor station because most of them are afraid to stay in their station so they prefer to be with other nurses in the thrid floor.

It’s 1pm at that time, i decided to walk around the corridor. The door in the opposite room is closed and maybe the cancer patient was already asleep. The other room where the old priest is located is also closed. The Last room is empty and open. I feel strange and it seems that a cold wind passes by in front of me. I was so scared so i run and go inside my room again.

I really force myself to sleep and try to close my eyes and ignore the things i hear outside. Its really a great experience for me. How about you share us your ghost stories too!!

The Operation was a Success!!

Posted By: bluedreamer on September 27, 2009 in family and friends - Comments: No Comments »

The operation was a success. My Tita (Auntie) was diagnosed to have Adenomyosis. Adenomyosis is a condition where the utesrus becomes bulky and heavier that causes painful and/or profuse menses like dysmenorrhe. I witness all her suffering due to the extreme pain brought to her by her disease. According to her doctor, there’s a big possibility that she got this illness after she gave birth to her one and only son via ceasarean section. There’s also a big possibility that this illness may lead to cervical cancer.

This is the main reason why my Tita decided to undergo medical operation as advised by her Gynecologist. However, my tita have to decide and accept the consequences of the operation. According to her doctor, Her uterus will be taken out from her which only means that she will never get a chance to have another baby. But of course, she also aske her husband about this before undergoing such operation.

The operation took a couple of hours and finally, here’s my Tita lying on her bed. It seems that she lost all her extra strength after her operation. She was very happy that she will never worry again about her condition. Despite the fact thst she will never get a chance to gave birth for a new baby, she knows she had made a right decision and God always have plans for her.

Surprisingly, a day after her operation, here’s my Tita (auntie) preparing herself to leave the hospital and very excited to meet her son. She lost weight but it seems that nothing has changed to her. Infact, she became livelier than before and we’re very happy for her.

I was with her in the hospital together with some of her relatives. I took this picture showing my Tita together with her In-laws.

Everything happens for a reason. Remember that God will not throw a stone to us that we can not catch!
Oooops! by the way something weird happened to me while im staying with my Tita in the hospital. Its a ghost thing and i will tell the whole  story in my next post.
