Does it also reminds you of your childhood days? The photo (left) was taken last month when my brother Milzon had his first Boy Scout Summer trip. This horse racing event for kids are just one of their fun activities held in a Sport Complex in Tagaytay. I remember, my cousin and I used to play Horse sticks too but i never had a chance to attend an event like this. I am not an active Boy Scout during my elementary years. Same thing with High school though we are required to attend our CAT training because it will reflect to our report card. I became a class marcher when I was in college which is, by far, my highest achievement in this kind of field hehe. Anyway, mom and Milzon had so much fun but unfortunately, the weather was not so cooperating that time and they had to postponed the rest of their activities.
As you can see (right photo), it started to drizzle so they cannot pursue the event up to the end. They failed to have camp fire too and also the real horse back riding for parents and teachers. There is a horse back riding field near the venue and is not part of the event but the parents can try it while kids are too busy with their camping. After all, parents are not allowed to the camping field and they have separate venue as well. I’m not really sure if they have to bring their own horse equipment or they just have to rent it there. Milzon was not so satisfied with the trip that’s why i promised him that we will hit Tagaytay again if he gets high grades and if the time will allow us. It must be a fun and exciting experience indeed.

I am so happy to see my all time favorite “Gumby” as Google Doodles the person behind this iconic Stop Motion Clay Star, Art Clokey to pay tribute for his 90th Birthday. Wow, It’s been more than a decade since I last saw Gumby and friends. I grew up watching the show. Well, it was originally aired in the 50′s but Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network re-run most of the Gumby episodes that’s why I am, somehow, familiar with the show.

The doodles feature five clay balls and each of them will reveal a character from Gumby. The red ball beside the “G” toy block features the Blockheads; the yellow ball reveals Prickle; Goo is for the blue ball; Gumby for green and Pokey for the last red ball. Other notable characters that are not featured in the doodle include Minga, Gumba, Gumbo and More.

To pay tribute for Art Clokey, I made my own Gumby clay haha. It’s pretty bad I know but I hope you like it guys hehe. After seeing Gumby, I started to search some of its early episodes on YouTube. Milzon is really not familiar with Gumby so I have to introduce the character by showing him some episodes through YouTube. I might consider installing a you tube video downloader program on my PC and compile all Gumby episodes on my computer so Milzon can watch it over and over again.

Halloween is nearly approaching and as a matter of fact, Milzon and I are planning to make some Halloween crafts at home. I’m sure his  school will organize another Halloween Party just like what they did last year in which we had so much fun. Halloween is usually associated with some fun activities and events including the Jack O Lantern Carvings and Trick or Treating. Most establishments and houses are being decorated to provide some haunted attractions for kids. Halloween costume Parties are pretty in demand today not just for kids but for all ages as well.

Looking back at last year’s event, I’m glad that I was able to save some pictures.

These are some wall decors that we made (Jack O Lantern and Frankenstein) . We make use of colored papers and some pieces of strings, making them inexpensive yet lovely Halloween hanging decorations. We made spider webs and life size skeleton too to add more spirit on the occasion.

Halloween Costumes doesn’t have to be very expensive especially for kids and in fact, you can make your own costumes by simply using some used materials and input some of your creativity and I’m sure you’ll end up in something good. The pictures above are few of the costumes that we made last year. Milzon’s Bloody Knife Headgear is actually my personal favorite. Who would have thought that we will come up with such wonderful craft out of used aluminum foil and card board. To make his costume complete, we asked him to wear an old “Barong Tagalog”. Mirasol, on the other hand is wearing a Fairy-inspired head gear which is a very popular costume theme for girls. Funny, but we make use of old Christmas balls for her antenna and her old pink gown as well to complete her Fairy costume. We improvised fairy wings too to make it more attractive.

As For Adult Costumes, I don’t think it is advisable to make costumes out of recycled materials anymore unless you are so creative. Shown above are two of the costumes I’ve seen last year. The Avatar-inspired costume is quite in demand during that time. I think it requires a lot of effort because you have to cover your self with body paint and you have to buy a wig and a pair of wings to complete the Avatar set. The Scream face- inspired costume on the other hand is very common and not so thrilling anymore. For girls, you can try out those sexy bunny costumes or Playboy-inspired suits which are pretty in demand today. If you want to be more unique, then why not try a Lady Gaga-inspired outfits? Anyway, no matter what costumes you wear, what matters most here is to bring and feel the fun.

This is a continuation of my post about Milzon’s Tagaytay trip in relation with the recently held Boy Scout gathering event. The event was held in Tagaytay Sport Complex and all Scouts from different schools were gathered here.

Everyone is preparing for the first activity.

The first activity is more like a drill where in kids should surpass series of obstacles. There are four stations here and the first one is the garter loops.

The second station is the stiff Bamboo bridge. They just have to pass the bridge and go straight forward to the next station. Of course, in order to pass the bridge they have to balance themselves because if they fell, they have to go back to start. Sorry for the video, my mom can’t shoot the video properly because because of the huge crowd.

The third station is the Mini Cave. Kids have to enter the cave one by one. They have to rush themselves because they have to finish all the stations within the given amount of time.

You can see 2 pairs of dice in the last station. Kids have to pick a pair and throw themand throw a pair. They have to get the right pair (color coded). If they got the Jackpot word, they will be awarded with a badge.

After few minutes of break, here comes another activity. It’s an Agaw-Bitin and kids are so excited to get a prize. Each plastic were filled with candies and mini toys. Milzon was able to get one yay!

Our mighty Kabscouts are taking their break. They are preparing for another exciting activity! The Horse Race!

Kids were gathered again for a racing event. Each kids were given a Horse Stick toy and they have to run from one end to another.

They are about to do another set of activities however, the weather seems to be not so cooperative because it started to drizzle and the event organizer had to postponed the rest of the activities. After few minutes of waiting, the rain started to flow and the school head decided to end their Boy Scout trip. They were advised to pack their things.

Some schools did the same thing so unfortunately, they had to cut their Boy Scout Event and the KABSayahan was over. It is supposed to be an overnight event and a they are supposed to have a camp fire but because of the Rain, they had to cut down everything though Milzon had so much fun and he wishes to visit Tagaytay again.

A week after this event, Milzon had to attend another Boy Scout related School activity. It’s their Oath Taking Ceremony! I will post about this event in my next entry. Thank you guys for droppong by.

Last September 5, Milzon and my Mom went to Tagaytay top attend the much awaited Boy Scout Event. This is Milzon’s very first time to visit Tagaytay and his very excited about it. As you all know, Milzon is not really comfortable with long distance travel. (You can recall my dizzy travel post  about him here). Anyway, it is very surprising that he manage to travel that far without VOMITING! haha.

The Event was held in Tagaytay Sport Complex. Students from different schools from different regions were gathered here for the Boy Scout Event.

Kids from Grade 1 to 3 are not classified as Boy Scouts yet. They are considered as “KabScout” or “Kabataang Scout”. The event was about to start and the kiddie scouts were asked to fall in line.

I know this is a very late post.Today I’ll share you some of pictures taken last September 4 which is Milzon’s 8th Birthday. I posted an entry last month showing our Pre-birthday celebration where in I treat him in one of his favorite Amusement center in SM. So this time, it’s Milzon’s big day. He invited some of his classmates and friends. It’s a very simple celebration compare to what we had last year. I bought him a small cake with “Angry birds”  toys on top of it.

While mom cooked her special Spaghetti and Lumpiang Shanghai for my brother. It’s a very typical celebration and what makes it differ than last year is that Milzon invited some classmate to drop by and celebrate with him. He’s kinda shy last year to invite his classmates.

Good thing his birthday was on Sunday and he was able to play with his friends the whole Day.

Before leaving, we asked them to pose one last time. My Auntie and cousins also came to visit my brother and they offered some gifts too. Milzon had so much fun that day and wishing to have the same birthday next year. I promise myself to make it extra special next year.

It was a great relief to know that we were able to celebrate his birthday successfully and here’s a plate of spaghetti and a choco bar (given by my Auntie) to treat myself!

Time really run out so fast and I just can’t imagine how many things have changed today! It seems that it was just yesterday when i am playing with Michelle, my childhood friend. We were best friends and we are really that close. Their house is just one block away from us and i used to visit her whenever I have some questions regarding about our home works. But of course, we are not that kid anymore. She took her college at Manila and she decided to stay there for good since her employer is much nearer on her place but then she used to visit her parents here from time to time. The only way that we can keep in touch is through Facebook. That keeps both of us updated to each other.

Okay, before anything else, please don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing cheesy about our relationship. We are best friends and we are happy to keep that relationship forever. She is currently in a relationship and she just announced it last week that she’s now engaged and I am invited to her wedding. I am really happy for her and i wish her all the success in life. She’s really happy right now and I can see it confidently on her face. Well, i will not be surprised if one day, I will received my Baptism invitations from her for her first baby. Yay! That’s very exciting!

Yikes… i just realized that i am not getting any younger and i’m sure one of these days, I will find the right girl for me too! Someone who i can be with forever. Right Chelo? haha I love you Chelo and I am so proud to have you as my best friend…. so excited about your wedding.

I can sense the Holy Week now. We’ll be celebrating Palm Sunday or the “Palaspas” 2 days from now. The feast commemorates Jesus’ Triumphal entry into Jerusalem. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves (often tied into crosses) to the assembled worshipers. At Mass on Palm Sunday (Linggo ng Palaspas), Catholics carry palm fronds to be blessed by the priest. Many Filipinos bring them home after the Mass and place them above their front doors or windows, in the belief that doing so can ward off evil spirits and avert lightning.

Then after that is the start of the Holy Week. Every Good Friday or much known here as “Biyernes Santo“, there are numerous churches that held a traditional Passion play called the “Senakulo” and also the “Pinetensya”. I do not know guys if you are into Fasting or “Ayuno” this coming Holy Week but i will try my best to do this though i am not giving you a promise.

We will visit the Province too for the Visita Iglesia. It is a where we visit seven different churches to pray. We will pray the rosary and finish stating the 14 Station of the Cross.

We’ll attend the solemn mass on the “Black Saturday” or the “Sabado De Gloria” and will celebrate with our family on the Easter Sunday. We usually hit the beach every Easter Sunday and mom cooked a lot of special dishes including the “Bacalao“.

The Holy Week is just around the corner and I know most of you are planning to grab this opportunity to visit your relatives on your province. This is exactly what we are going to do. It’s been a tradition to us to visit the province every Holy Week, not just to visit our relatives but also to do our what so-called “Visita Iglesia”. It is a where we visit seven different churches to pray. We will pray the rosary and finish stating the 14 Station of the Cross.

We are planning to visit Pangasinan this coming this coming weekend but before anything else, i think i should get Payday Advance loan now since i am about to spend some money for our transportation expenses and also to buy some goods for our relatives in Pangasinan. In a rush situation like this, i better seek for a company that offer No Faxing Payday Loans so that i can get the money without undergoing such a long process of approval. I need to have this application as early as of today knowing that most companies are closed during the Holy Week.

Every Summer, we used to visit our grandparents in our province in Alaminos Pangasinan. We used to visit them every year and spend our whole week vacation there with my parents. I am actually excited this year because our cousin Ichan will be joining us. This will be his first time to visit the province if ever and we’re all excited to tour him in the place. Alaminos is known for the “Hundred Islands” and it’s funny because I’ve never been there.

The place is a perfect summer destination and is one of the Philippines best tourist spot. And since Cousin Ichan will be with us this summer, i guess it is the right time for me to visit this place. I have heard that there are so many rare breeds of birds coming in this area during this season so i better pack my self with a rifle scope to view them much clearly. Also, i will sure bring my camera with me to take some shots. What a great opportunity to show my passion in photography! Hahaha just kidding, not really a good photographer but i’m trying!
