Posted By: bluedreamer on October 30, 2009 in Article and Tips, health - Comments: 3 Comments »

Some busy people have no time to laughm breathe or rush to toilet when the urge hits them. The results of this all-work, no-play lifestyle are hypertension, cancer and heart disease.

Here are tips to keep you sane and well ( I have read these information froma magazine)  ;

  1. Consume no more than three cups of coffee a day. And nothing after 8 pm ( oh my i am addicted into to coffee and consume more than 7 cups a day, i wonder how will i control myself from this kind of addiction)
  2. Follow the eight hour rule daily. Working beyond eight hours is an injustice to your sense of well-being ( but of course, it’s okay to have an overtime sometimes especially if you’re really required to so it)
  3. Listen to relaxing music and surround yourself with pleasant people! ( so true)
  4. Keep a clean desk in your office! Delegate work.
  5. Drink a glass of water every waking hour.
  6. Visit a spa or healing center. or you can try “Hilot” a filipino term which is a traditional and natural way of massage. This process focusses on the acupressure points of the body.

These tips will somehow help you to fin d way to relax your body and mind and relievs stress brought to you by your heavy work.

Roasted Chicken

Posted By: bluedreamer on October 25, 2009 in food - Comments: 3 Comments »

Isn’t so obvious that i really love chicken dishes. (LOLZ)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3441/3950144933_62c8d53877.jpg

Chicken is the most common type of poultry in t

he world and one of the most affordable meat that you can find in any market. Chicken can be used primarily as food and can be cooked in many different ways.

Did you know that raw chicken can be frozen for up to two years without significant changes in their flavor or texture?

Chicken can be cooked in innumerable ways; it can be made into sausages, put in salads, grilled, breaded and deep-fried, or used in various curries.

I usually prepare an oven roasted chicken for my guest. This is how i prepare my roasted chicken. First i rinse the chicken well, then i will rub the inner part or the inside cavity of the chicken with salt. I will do the same procedure on the outer chicken part but this time i add grained pepper and peeled garlic gloves. After that, i will add the stuff inside the cavity of the chicken. I usually used potatoes, rosemary and lemons as my stuffing

.

To make your chicken more presentable, tie your chicken with kitchen strings. Before placing your chciken into your pan, try these steps first.

Melt the butter in the pan, and add the olive oil, and heat. Place your chiken in the pan and put it inside your oven

Make sure that you preheat oven to 475 degrees F. then roast it for 15 minutes. Turn the chicken to the other side and roast another 15 minutes. Lower the heat to 400°F, turn the chicken breast side up, and continue roasting for 25-30 minutes, basting with the pan juices every 5 minutes.

If you’ve stuffed the chicken, remove the stuffing from the cavity and place in a serving dish.

Yummy!

Raising Poultry

Posted By: bluedreamer on October 19, 2009 in family and friends, food, products, travel - Comments: 13 Comments »

Managing a Poultry business is not an easy task! This is what I’ve learned after we visited my Uncle’s farm in our province in Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte. I really had so much fun playing with my neice and nephews, so as my cousins.

The Province of Ilocos Norte specializes in some agricultural products like rice, corn, garlic, root crops, legumes, tobacco and other fruits and vegetables. The province is also known for their Tilapia Industries. My Uncle is currently raising poultry like chickens, ducks and other livestocks like cow, sheep and pigs.

Among all these poultry animals, raising chickens is the most interesting. Most farmers keep chickens primarily as source of food, consuming both meat and eggs.

Here, i took a picture of one of their chicken.

manok ni blue by you.

I’ve learned that not all chickens are laying eggs. Chickens that are farmed for eggs are called “hens” while chickens farmed for meats are called “broiler chickens”. Sad to say, the life span of these poor broiler chickens typically take less than six weeks after thay have reached their slaughter size. Luckily, egg laying hens will naturally live for more than 6 years!( Thanks God)

Moving forward, chicken eggs are incubated until they hatch after 21 days. My uncle is using an improvise incubator, placing  incandescent bulbs inside the cage.

Nearly all parts of the chicken can be used for food and the meat can be cooked in many different ways. I love chicken dishes like “Chicken Adobo” (a popular filipino dish), chicken curry, grilled chicken and more!

These chicken dishes are perfect to match up with some Ilocos yummy delicacies like chichacorn and Bibingka (rice cakes).

I will share it all in my next post.

Lactose-Free Milk

Calcium is very important for everyone, especially women and children. But for a lactose intolerant like me, i have difficulty in digesting dairy. that is why i’m very thankful that there are dairy products which are 100% lactose-free. by drinking a lactose-free milk, i get the calcium that i need without the discomfort of milk products. Most Lactose-free milk are still rich in calcium and vitamin D with protein, vitamin A and other nutrients. It’s wholesome and delicoious for the whole family.

I used this lactose-free milk in my recipe and all my favorite foods such as fluffy banana pancakes served with maple syrup, caramelized bananas, butter and pecans. Yummy and tempting!

One is for kids while the other one is for adults with a depth reaching 6 feet. Since i don’t know how to swim, i decided just to take some pictures of those kids swimming and playing.

I am thinking to celebrate my birthday on the same location but ofcourse i’ll be inviting my friends and not kids.
