The Secret order of the Gumm Street Girls

Have you read the book “The Secret order of the Gumm Street Girls”? It was written by Elise Primavera. The story starts from 3 young girls Franny, Pru and Cat.

Franny, Pru and Cat have lived in the same place all their lives: Gumm Street in the picture perfect town of Sherbet, where it rains for 45 minutes every summer day at 4pm, followed by perfect rainbow. Sherbet also has a candy store called Colossal candy Bar and an ice cream parlor that is a five stories high. Everything is perfect except for the girls relationship to each other. Franny, Pru anf Cat made a habit of avoiding one another as much as possible. Until a girl named Ivy moves in, and suddenly there’s a big storm(and lots of trouble) looming on the horizon. In the end, the girls pull themselves together to save their town.

Spiderman 2 PS2 game reviewed!

Posted By: bluedreamer on April 20, 2009 in games - Comments: No Comments »

The PS2 and the XboxVersion of Spiderman 2 was a blast. It finally gave tired superhero games a fresh shotin the arm with its free roaming gameplay. Unfortunately the PSP version of Spiderman 2 doesnt let you to explore Manhattan as freely. Instead, the game is more likely the first Spiderman game on the PS2 where you are given specific missons that you have to complete. Going anywhere elese means an instant failure.

sdqMost of the enemies are set indoors with the focus on fighting several enemies at once. Controlling Spidey feels a bit iffy since you use d-pad to move and adjust the camera at the same time. Spidey still has his arsenal moves like web swinging, charged jumps, dives and web zips, and you can earn points to upgrade some of your moves.

For his part, Spiderman moves as well as his console counterpar. Its just weird as he moves accross buildings, his webbing seems to cling on to thin air. My main complaint thought, is how easy and short everything is. It will take you less than three hours to finish the entire game.

The Worst Witch

Posted By: bluedreamer on April 10, 2009 in books - Comments: No Comments »

Ever since i was a kid, my mom keeps on telling me some short stories before going to bed. I think that’s one of the reason why i am pretty much addicted in reading some short story books. Just like “THE WORST WITCH” authored by Jill Murphy.

eeeThe story revolves around a girl named Mildred Hubble. Mildred Hubble has never had an easy time fitting in. Her spells usually turn out completely wrong (Just imagine how Ron Weasley of Harry Potter film cast his spells), her potions are always a disaster, and even her kitten cannot balance on her broomstick!

She’s only in her first year at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches (Is there really such thing as “schools fro witches?”), and already she’s been to headmistress’ office more times than you can count. But it is not because she doesnt try. Infact, sometimes she tries so hard, things don’t quite go according to plan. Like time that she and her best friend Maud,  had to make a laughing potion but ended up becoming invisible instead! And now her class is involved in the school’s big holloween celebration. Will she be able to join everyone that she won’t mess up, or are they going to call her the Worst Witch forever?

But everything starts to go horribly wrong the minute Matt wakes up, and they just keep getting worse! One morning, he wakes up as a sixteen year old high school student, then the next, he becomes  a green-skinned monster! Now he just wants everything to go back the way they were. The Question is, will they ever? In the end, everything was just a dream and i guess Matt learned his lesson, not to aim for a bigger and more spacious bed room.

The Voice of Beck!

Posted By: bluedreamer on April 4, 2009 in Anime - Comments: No Comments »

Do you love Anime? Well you might want to check out “BECK”, BECK is actually a boy band and they reviving songs and make their own rock rendition. The Band includes Ryusuke Minami who is the brain behind BECK. When he Met Koyuki, he was already fairly well-known in the music scene, having been in a band called Serial Mama. Yuji Sakurai is the band’s drummer and a good friend of Koyuki. Yoshiyuki Taira is the band’s excellent bassist. In fact, he’s so good that Ryusuke made sure to recruit him in the band. Tsunemi Chiba is the band’s lead vocalist and the one who cam up with the band’s name. Yukio Tanaka or also known as Koyuki and the BECK’s guitarist and vocalist.

imagesKoyuki was a shy teenager who had no idea what to do with his life and had very little interest in anything. But rock music changed all that, inspiring him to pursue a music career.! He firt got his hands on the guitar when Ryusuke lend him one. But it was Saitou, his swimming teacher, who taught  him how to play it. The first time that he actually played for an audience was when Saitou asked him to be his band’s gutarist at a music festival.

He was the least experirnced member of Beck, but with a little time and practice, he became a very good gutarist. He’s also the group’s vocalist for slower tunes.

Since Koyuki started playing for BECK’ he’s become a hit with the girls. But we hear he’s only got eyes for someone he’s actaually performed with on stage: Maho, Ryusuke’s sister.
